Travel Information

Arrival and Departure

Rio de Janeiro International Airport is the main point of entry into Brazil for the participants of the 15th EM Induction and the MT-DIW5 workshops. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will provide reception at the airport for those attending the MT-DIW5 Workshop and arriving on August 17th (Thursday). Special shuttle buses/vans will be available on August 19th (Saturday) to link Rio de Janeiro (from Observatorio Nacional and the airport) to Cabo Frio. The return will be on August 26th (Saturday) and on August 27th (Sunday). Make sure to inform us about your travel schedule in order to help us planning properly the timetable departures. The transfer Rio/Cabo Frio/Rio through these LOC buses costs US$ 30. You should fill in the transportation form and pay it together with your registration. Alternatively (for instance in case of late arrival), you can take a taxi from Rio de Janeiro International Airport to Cabo Frio. The transfer Rio/Cabo Frio (one way) by taxi costs about US$ 150. Another possibility is to take a taxi from the Airport to the Rio Bus-Station (Rodoviaria Novo Rio) and take a bus there to Cabo Frio (hourly departures). The major inconvenience of this latter choice can be related to communication problems as English is not widely spoken in Brazil. This option will cost about US$ 15 (one way). For detailed information on domestic travel after the workshop, META Marketing agency will have a desk at the Municipal Theatre during all the Cabo Frio event. Reservations can be made at this desk.

Passport and Visa

Most participants will need only a valid passport. However, visitors from some countries will require a Tourist or Business Visa. Brazil's visa policy is based on reciprocity, i.e., countries that require visas from Brazilian citizens are subject to the same formality for their citizens. For further information, visitors should consult a travel agent or the nearest Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in their country. The invitation letter to require a visa will be sent in April. If you haven't done yet, please let us know soon if an invitation letter is required.

Insurance

The Workshop organizers cannot accept liability for personal accidents, or loss of (or damage to) private property of delegates and accompanying persons, either during or indirectly arising from the 15th Workshop on Electromagnetic Induction in the Earth. All participants should make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
