The 2nd EM Workshop Football game took place on Friday 25th August between 1:30-2:30pm on the beach of Cabo Frio. There were approximately 20 players, divided into two teams Team EUROPE, also known as Team WEISE Team REST-OF-THE-WORLD, also known as Team PARKINSON Although this was a "friendly" match, competition was fierce as Team Europe had challenged Team Rest-of-the-World for the right to decide whether the real induction arrows should be plotted as unreversed (Weise convention), or reversed (Parkinson convention). Agreed and adopted international convention is the Parkinson one. (Also, it does make logical sense to point TOWARDS anomalies rather than away from them.) Referee Xavier (Chester) Garcia ensured that play was fair, or as fair as Xavi thought fair. At one point he had to caution Team Weise as they had 12 players compared to Team Parkinson's 7. Despite these overwhelming odds, Team Parkinson won the game 6-3, thanks in part to the stallwart defensive skills of Alan Jones. Fortunately Juanjo Ledo, who initially played in goal for Team Parkinson, was replaced after he let in two soft shots - possibly because of distracting chickens. There was only one injury this year. Meju Junior playing for Team Weise had to limp off after he was tackled by one of his own players. Clearly Team Weise didn't know the good guys from the bad guys. TEAM PARKINSON: 6 TEAM WEISE: 3 As a consequence of this match, all real induction arrows must be reversed for the next two years. A re-match will take place in Santa Fe. Apparently, Team Weise players are in training already.
