Dear colleagues,
It is with deep sorrow that I have to inform the EM community that Hartmut Joedicke died last Friday, April 8, 2005 at the age of 58 after suffering from long illness.
Hartmut was one of the pioneers of MT research in Germany from the days of paper recordings and punch card machines. One of his many strong qualities was his ability introducing geological and petrophysical aspects into MT - we all remember lively discussions with Hartmut about the importance of blackshales and graphite for the interpretation of conductivity anomalies.
Hartmut's engagement stretched far beyond EM science: He filled various positions within the German Geophysical Society with his unique selfless commitment. Hartmut was a highly respected colleague and supervisor, being a sympathetic listener not only to scientific problems. We shall deeply miss an enthusiastic scientist and a warm-hearted friend.
