Third Magnetotelluric Data Interpretation Workshop
MT-DIW3
Tsukuba, Japan, 9th and 10th July, 1996
The workshop was held on 9th and 10th of July, 1996, at the offices of the Geological Survey of Japan in Tsukuba, Japan. The host for the workshop is Dr. Yasuo Ogawa, and is being organized jointly by Dr. Ogawa and Prof. Alan Jones.
Arrival day in Tsukuba is July 8th, and departure day is July 11th. It is expected that most, if not all, participants will attend the Onuma EM workshop which begins on July 12th.
For this MT-DIW, only one dataset will be examined. This is a 209-station MT dataset acquired on a rectangular grid at Kayabe on Hokkaido, which is quite close to the location of the Onuma EM workshop.
For this dataset, two perpendicular crossing profiles of thirteen stations each are defined for those who wish to use 2D approaches. The 2D models, when compared with the 3D ones, also will give us some information about bias errors introduced by 2D interpretation of 3D bodies.
As on the previous two occasions, papers on the Kayabe dataset can be submitted to a special issue of Journal of Geomagnetism and Geoelectricity. For an example of the first one, please go to MT-DIW1: Wellington, 1992.
